Transferring a domain (to and from YaDominios)

Bringing your domain to YaDominios (transfer-in)

1. Check the requirements: the domain must be more than 60 days past its registration or last transfer (ICANN rule) and not expired.
2. At your current registrar: unlock the domain (remove the “transfer lock”) and request the EPP code (also called auth code or authorization code).
3. In your YaDominios dashboard: go to My domains → “Bring a domain you already own”, type the domain, paste the EPP code, and fill in the owner details.
4. Pay for the included year: payment starts the move (a transfer always adds 1 year of renewal, so you don't lose paid time).
5. Wait it out: most .com/.net transfers complete in under 5 days. Progress shows right in your dashboard — no need to ask.

Taking your domain out of YaDominios (transfer-out)

We believe in zero lock-in: your domain is yours. If you decide to leave, in your dashboard you can unlock the domain and get your EPP code, or ask support and we'll hand it over, no runaround. Just make sure your owner email is current, since the process may ask for confirmation.

Tips for a smooth transfer

• Don't transfer a domain that's about to expire: renew first and transfer calmly.
• Your site can keep working during the transfer if you don't change the DNS; plan the DNS change separately.
• Turn off WHOIS privacy during the process if your previous registrar requires it.
